For many students today, studying abroad isn’t just a dream, it’s a life goal. But before you can take that big step, there’s one important requirement: proving your English language skills. That’s where Career Station comes in. Our IELTS preparation classes are more than just lessons-they’re a complete support system. We help you understand the test format, strengthen your English skills, and build the confidence you need to perform your best on test day.
Overview
What is IELTS?
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is one of the most trusted and widely accepted English language proficiency tests in the world. Recognized by over 10,000 organizations including universities, employers, immigration departments, and professional bodies, IELTS is a key requirement for anyone planning to study, work, or migrate abroad. Countries like the USA, the UK, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and many others accept IELTS scores from Nepali applicants.
IELTS Academic
This version is designed for individuals who plan to pursue higher education in English-speaking countries. It measures your readiness to study or train in academic settings.
- ✓Listening: 30 minutes – Four recordings of native English speakers with a series of questions.
- ✓Reading: 60 minutes – Three long passages from books, journals, magazines, and newspapers (40 questions).
- ✓Writing: 60 minutes – Describe a graph/chart/diagram and write an essay in response to an argument or problem.
- ✓Speaking: 11–14 minutes – Face-to-face interview with short questions, a structured talk, and a discussion.
IELTS General Training
Intended for those going abroad for work experience, training programs, or immigration. It focuses more on everyday English and practical communication skills.
- ✓Listening: Same as Academic.
- ✓Reading: 60 minutes – Extracts from books, magazines, advertisements, and workplace documents.
- ✓Writing: 60 minutes – A letter-writing task and an essay.
- ✓Speaking: Same as Academic.
Paper-based or Computer-based?
If you’re more comfortable writing by hand, the paper-based test lets you complete Listening, Reading, and Writing on paper, with Speaking done face-to-face. If you’re confident on a computer, you can take the computer-based test at a center-Speaking is still conducted in person. Both formats use the same content, timing, and scoring.
